The White House reported on Sunday that known terrorist and mastermind of the September 11, 2001 attacks was killed last week in a missile attack in Pakistan by U.S. armed forces.
“The death of Osama bin Laden will not end the scourge of terrorism that will always be associated with his name. It will also not bring back the lives of the thousands of innocent Americans who he killed,” said Spencer Bachus, R-Vestavia Hills; some of north Jefferson County falls in Bachus’ district. “But the evil man behind the attacks of 9/11 who spread a philosophy of hate has not escaped a final reckoning. We salute the bravery of the special operations forces that accomplished their mission, and commend the diligence of the Administration and all who have worked for many years to bring us to this day.”
Bin Laden was buried at sea on Monday by U.S. naval officers.
