Gardendale police recover $75,000 in stolen property

- Several thousand dollars worth of stolen lawn equipment sits in a truck’s bed and trailer at Hurst Towing and Recovery near Fultondale. Police recovered the stolen property and charged one man with its theft on Saturday.
Gardendale Police arrested one man and are questioning another in connection to the recovery of $75,000 worth of stolen property.
According to police, detectives received a tip on Saturday about individuals selling stolen property in Center Point. Posing as potential buyers, detectives went to meet the individuals at their house in the 1900 block of 4th Street Northeast.
Police say the detectives positively identified several pieces of stolen property and called for uniformed officers and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies to respond to the house.
Two suspects fled from the scene; police say they captured one and arrested him. The other suspect fled on foot and police say they are looking for him. Three vehicles, two utility trailers and a large amount of equipment, all believed to be stolen, were recovered.
Johnny Dandre Jackson, 31, was charged with receiving stolen property, first degree, and obsucring the identity of a vehicle. His bonds total $30,000.
