Fultondale council vacancy caused by state legislation

Fultondale City Council member Greg Morris was removed from the council last week because of state legislation that automatically removes any member of a council or commission that has missed all meetings in a 90-day period, according to city attorney Charlie Waldrep. The council only acknowleged the empty seat at its regular meeting today; it cannot appoint a new council member until the next council meeting.
In other business, the council:
• passed a resolution to authorize Mayor Jim Lowery to take and award bids for fencing upgrades for Black Creek Park ball fields.
• approved a business license for Lantech Solutions, Inc., located at 3524 Decatur Hwy.
• approved a business license for the law office of Matthew Kinder, LLC, to be located at 1712 Decatur Hwy.
• approved an ABC license transfer for Outback Steakhouse.
• voted to take 120 days to review a moratorium on issuing business licenses for used automobile lots in order for the Planning Commission to review the area requirements.
• approved a resolution to loan the Commercial Development Authority funds in the amount of $77,000 for the purchase of reas estate for future development.
• proclaimed May 5 as National Day of Prayer
