The Hitchin Post in Kimberly is holding its fourth annual rodeo in May, with 25 percent of the proceeds going to the Christmas in Kimberly program.
Christmas in Kimberly uses donations to provide gifts and food to children and their families every year for the past 15 years.
The rodeo is bringing contestants from across Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi. It will feature barrel racing, bull riding, bronco bucking, team roping, cowgirls breakaway roping and a calf scramble for kids.
Sid McFarland of Montgomery is returning as the clown. He worked the first Hitchin Post rodeo and Harris said he is a crowd favorite in the rodeo world.
The event is sanctioned by the Southeastern Professional Rodeo Association and is sponsored by Dewey Barber Chevrolet and Dr. Steven J. King of Alabama Pediatric Gastroenterology Associates of Birmingham.
The rodeo is May 6-7 at 8 p.m. both nights. Advance tickets are $10 each and are available at The Hitchin Post at 1125 Ed Minor Road in Kimberly and at Big Daddy’s Bar-B-Q at 407 Main Street N in Warrior. Tickets at the door are $12 each.
All students at Bryan Elementary and Warrior Elementary will receive a free ticket to the rodeo.
