Billy Z. McDaniel, age 79 of Gardendale passed away Monday, April 11, 2011. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving in the Korean War.  

Survivors include his wife, Doris Tubbs McDaniel; sons: Timothy (Debra) McDaniel, Michael McDaniel and GySgt. Kelly (Kathy) McDaniel, USMC, Ret.; grandchildren, Kevin McDaniel, Sgt. Zachary McDaniel, USMC, LCpl. Wesley McDaniel, USMC, Riley McDaniel; Melanie (Peter) Kvam, Kati McDaniel and Sarah McDaniel; great-grandchildren, Molly and Elizabeth Kvam; sisters, Decie (Earl) Strong and Paula (Jimmy) Dorsey; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. His grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.  

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
