Trafford Mayor Robert Niblett said he would sign a petition to stop a dump from being constructed in the town of County Line at the regular Trafford Town Council meeting on Monday. The organizers of the petition say they are holding a public protest in front of the County Line Town Hall on Saturday.
In other business, the council:
• annexed seven lots belonging to Samuel Shears into the town limits.
• voted to become a client of Revenue Discovery Systems (RDS) for services related to optimizing sales tax revenue, revenue from business licenses and other services.
• considered a proposal by AT&T about placing a cell phone tower within Trafford town limits.
• discussed an upcoming evaluation of their local fire department by Insurance Service Office, Incorporated. Niblett said he felt the town’s fire equipment was old and run-down. The town has an eight out of 10 fire protection rating, which puts the town in a higher insurance premium bracket. Niblett said the town needs a new fire engine, and hopes the rating will drop so the town can afford to at least rebuild the current fire engine.
