Gardendale High School went into emergency shutdown after a “suspicous bag” was discovered on campus, according to a notification by the Jefferson County Board of Education. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies said the incident was a false alarm, and called it a bomb threat. Deputies also said nobody was hurt.
Students were evacuated to the school’s athletic fields while law enforcement investigated.
School did not end early, and a staff member said the school returned to a normal level of operation, although many students were checked out by their parents.
