Fultondale church congregations merging

Two Fultondale churches are getting closer to becoming one body of worshippers.
Since October 2010, CrossPointe Baptist Church members have been worshipping at Fultondale First Baptist Church. The congregations combined when Fultondale First Baptist’s pastor resigned.
After five months of meeting in Fultondale, the joint congregations will begin meeting at the CrossPointe facility this month. To kick off the transition, several events are scheduled at the CrossPointe facility:
• March 18 at 7 p.m.: Christian comedian Scott Davis will perform
• March 19, 4-6 p.m.: There will be an open house with refreshments, where the congregation can tour the building and find their classrooms and other facilities
• March 20, 10:45 a.m.: The first joint worship service will be held at the CrossPointe facility. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
The merger is still not official. Pastor Sam Greene said the congregations will hold a joint business meeting, where each body must vote to merge the two bodies.
In the meantime, however, Greene said the congregations are working very well together.
“Its been fulfilling to watch how they’ve adapted to each other,” he said.
Greene invites the community to this weekend’s special events, and he extends an invitation to anyone who wants to visit for worship.
The facility also has a daycare and preschool, and is located at 1009 Walker Ave.
