A Mt. Olive man was killed Sunday night when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies said Christopher Chance, 45, who lived on Nail Road in Mt. Olive, was pronounced dead at the scene of his one-car accident on Mt. Olive Road, between Dyer Road and River Road. Deputies responded to the accident scene at about 6:15 p.m.

Deputies said speed may have been a factor in the accident; Chance’s 2004 Jeep Wrangler apparently left the road at a curve and then struck the tree.
