In love, huh? Remember when you were?

In honor of that sweetened tradition known as Valentine’s Day, here’s a list of great love songs to help that feeling, or to remember that feeling.

1. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” — Elvis Presley. The King delivers one of his most sincere vocal performances with an arrangement that brings alive a moonlit night for glazed over lovers.

2. “I Want You Around” — The Ramones. The consummate punk rockers state as only four street kids could do. And it works so well.

3. “Your Precious Love” — The Impressions. Led by Curtis Mayfield and Jerry Butler, this rhythm and blues group recorded one of the most heartfelt performances ever with this powerful ballad. Listen to it over and over. It gets better and better.

4. “Saturday Night At the Movies — The Drifters. Rhythm and blues groups of the early ‘60s were among the best composers and performers of love songs. This one captures the thrill of young people going to any old movie just to be with someone you like.

5. “Tell Me” — The Rolling Stones. Even the bad-boy Stones knew a thing or two about pining for love. Simply a great track with all the fine musicianship that comes with vintage Rolling Stones records.

6. “I Want to Hold Your Hand” — The Beatles. Great fun from the Beatles’ early years when girls were fainting in the concert aisles at the thought of holding one of the Fab Four’s hands.

7. “Baby I Love You” — The Ronettes. One of the great female singing groups gave the world a song that’s one of the most memorable, plain-spoken love anthems in popular music.

8. “Ripplin’ Waters” — Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Love comes forth from these masters of bluegrass and mountain music. Absolutely beautiful song adorned with folk instruments.

9. “Hey Good Lookin’ “ — Hank Williams. Country boys have a way with words: “Hey good lookin’, whatcha got cookin’; how’sa about cookin’ something up with me.” That’s a spunky way of saving, “I Love You.”

10. “Try A Little Tenderness” — Otis Redding. One of the great soul singers. No one could have recorded this song, with such emotion, and not been in love with someone. The song breaks down a relationship to one point: I love you for no other reason than you.
