In the first half, Carver’s Latrice Ragland scored 20 points against Gardendale.
She didn’t score again until halfway through the final period of the Rockets’ 62-42 victory Monday night.
Fancy halftime adjustments? Not really, said coach Ryan Griffin.
“I decided coming out of the locker room that we were just going to double-team her from the start,” Griffin said. “It’s something we haven’t even practiced much, or at all.”
Griffin had his guards double up on Ragland when she got to half court, and back off when she passed the ball. The other three Rockets stayed back in a partial zone.
After a halftime tie, the Rams scored just four points in the third quarter.
Kasey Jones led the Rockets with 20 points. Chelsey Deloney came off the bench for 11 points and 10 rebounds. Taylor Lindsay scored 10 points.
Ragland finished with 29 points for the Rams.
