The identities of the Warrior couple killed in a car fire on Morris-Majestic road on Dec. 30 have been released by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Christopher Dewayne Rickles and his wife Constance Adkins Rickles were reportedly killed, according to the sheriff’s office, when their 1976 Chevrolet pick-up truck left the road and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to ignite.

Warrior Fire Dept. to purchase software

The Warrior City Council voted to send city clerk Demetra Mixon to an Alabama Municipal Court Clerks and Magistrates Association, at a cost of $413 for registration and lodging.

“The more she knows, the more it helps the city,” said Warrior Mayor Rena Hudson.  In other business, the council:

• granted a request from Fireworks Unlimited to allow the owners to keep the stand where it is.

• rescheduled the Jan. 17 council meeting to Jan. 18. The pre-council meeting will be at 4:30 p.m. and the regular meeting will be at 5 p.m.

• passed a motion to allow the Warrior Fire Department to purchase software at an estimated cost of around $500.
