A Fultondale business is again calling on off-roaders to open their hearts to children in need.
Today only, Off-Road Connection is hosting a toy drive at Gray Rock ORV park in Mt. Olive, owned by Tony and and Myra Cousins.
All toys donated go to the city of Fultondale’s Christmas for Kids program, which provides Christmas gifts to dozens of children every year.
The toy drive is daylight to dark, and the entry fee to the park is a $20 toy or cash donation.
“Usually, people go far and beyond that,” said Off-Road Connection owner Keith Bailey.
This is the fifth year Off-Road Connection has hosted the event. Bailey said the toy drive is always a huge success because people who participate in the sport of four-wheel driving are generous people.
“And it shows,” he said. “It’s amazing how much people spend.”
Last year, participants donated several truck loads of toys, including 50 bicycles.
“One reason I like this particular toy drive is these toys stay in the community I’m from and live in,” Bailey said.
The Gray Rock toy drive is usually held for three days, but Bailey, who manages the park, said this year’s drive is today only because of hunting season.
