Traditions Bank, on Alabama Highway 69 South, was robbed at approximately 8:30 a.m. by a lone white male. No one was injured during the robbery, and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’9”, wearing a blue jean jacket, blue jeans, a gray toboggan, with a green “hoodie” over the top. He wore glasses and has a mustache and goatee, according to an FBI report.

The man claimed to have a weapon, and reportedly passed a note to the bank teller requesting money. He then left on foot, likely heading south on Hwy. 69.

“He entered the bank at about 8:20 a.m. and presented a note,” Tony Quick, with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, said. “He took the note with him, then left on foot headed south until he went out of sight. There is no vehicle description we know of right now.”

Michael Baggett, head security officer at the Dodge City branch of Traditions Bank, said the teller involved in the robbery managed the situation well.

“The teller who received the note cooperated as employees of the bank are trained to in these types of situations,” he said. “Basically, we’re very proud of our bank staff and how they handled the situation as they have been trained.”

Quick said authorities are combing Dodge City, though enough time has elapsed that it is possible the suspect has made it outside the local perimeter.

“As far as the time frame, someone would’ve likely had time to leave the area,” he said. “But, we’ve had the helicopter in the air looking for anything unusual in the wooded areas, and we have deputies there.”

Thanks to a camera inside the bank, Quick said authorities have a very accurate description of the robber.

“We have some very clear pictures of him, and a very good description,” he said.
