Odom and Ogle received their commendations because of their work in the Gardendale First Baptist Church arson cases in April. Odom’s investigation led to the arrest and conviction of serial arsonist Donny Ray Horton. Ogle was the first to arrive at the April 30 fire at the church and extinguished the blaze with a fire extinguisher from his patrol car.
