Warrior denies liquor license to pharmacy

The Warrior City Council voted to deny a liquor and beer license for CVS at its regular meeting on Nov. 1.

A city ordinance says that a business cannot be granted a license if it is less than 500 feet from a school, church or library. CVS is located 291 feet from Warrior Church of God.

Police say to lock vehicles

Gardendale police say a surge of reports of unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle (UBEV) has been reported at gas stations and convenience stores over Jefferson County recently. Gardendale Police Chief Mike Walker said a purse was stolen out of a car that was left running and unlocked in the parking lot of a Gardendale gas station while the owner briefly went inside. Walker said the other recent cases across the county are very similar and could be related. Police officers say drivers should always lock vehicles, even if leaving them only for a few minutes.
