Tabernacle Chr. 48, Victory Chr.-Millbrook 28: Goodgame gets Torches into CFA playoffs

Tabernacle Christian got into the Christian Football Association eight-man playoffs with a 48-28 win over Victory Christian Friday night.

Once again it was Frederick Goodgame who led the way with five touchdowns, three rushing and two passing. His 159 yards will keep him near the top of the nation’s top runners in eight-man football, according to stats website Maxpreps.com.
The Torches made the first score of the game with a 28-yard interception return by Joseph Zassoda. Victory answered with a 76-yard pass by Tyler Pinkston to Jay Grice.
Tabernacle rounded out the first quarter with two touchdowns, one of them a 10-yard run by Goodgame, and another with a 30-yard pass by Goodgame to Zassoda.
The Eagles’ Matt Parker began the second quarter with a 5-yard run into the endzone. Goodgame then countered with a 5-yard run of his own.
Victory’s Joseph Lanier made a 40-yard pass to Dylan Hughes, followed by a Tabernacle score with an 18-yard pass by Goodgame to Matthew Dyer.
Both teams scored once in the third quarter. Chance Bowden made a 10-yard run for Victory, but Goodgame followed with a 27-yard sprint.

Bowden was the strongest defensive player in the game, with 14 of Victory’s tackles.
Tabernacle racked up their last eight points with a battle at the goal line. The Torches Eddie Johnson scored with a 1-yard run.
Tabernacle had 286 total offensive yards, and the Victory Christian-Millbrook had 186.
Tabernacle fumbled twice and lost the ball both times. Victory did the same three times.
With the win, Tabernacle gets into the CFA playoffs on a tiebreaker. They will either be seeded third or fourth, depending on other results of CFA games Friday.
