It was a war of attrition between Corner and Locust Fork, as the Yellow Jackets prevailed in a 10-6 victory.
Neither team scored in the first quarter. Corner’s Troy Elliott opened the scoring with a 25-yard field goal in the second quarter.
The Jackets (3-2) followed followed by an 18-yard pass by quarterback Blake Byrd to receiver Nick Webb.
Locust Fork made their sole touchdown with 4:25 left on the clock in the third quarter. Quarterback Sam Estes ran it in from the Yellow Jackets’ 2-yard line. The extra point was no good.
Webb finished the game with five receptions for 78 yards.
Byrd had eight completions out of 13 pass attempts for 84 yards, as well as 12 rushing attempts for 70 yards.
Locust fork turned the ball over twice on fumbles, while Corner fumbled the ball three times, losing one.
The Jackets gained 284 yards total, while Locust Fork had 256 yards.
Aaron Cummings ran 15 times for 57 yards for the Jackets.
Corner hosts Dora in regional action next Friday night.
