Obituary—Gerald “Jerry” Ray Smith

Gerald “Jerry” Ray Smith went to be with his Lord on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the age of 67. He was a member of the Gardendale church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents: Farris and Edith Smith. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Smith; 1 daughter, Susan Hill (Travis); two sons: Yim Smith (Angie) and Jeff Smith (Alicia); four grandchildren: Brittany Childers (Keith), Travis Hill III, Carlee Hill and Chayanne Smith; four step-grandchildren: Leah Drumman, Haley Douglas, Alex Smeraglia, and Seth Knox; two great-grandchildren: Hagen Hill and Keaton Childers; two brothers: Gene Smith (Christa) and Charley Smith (Nola); and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with funeral services starting at 11 a.m. with Jackie Richardson officiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Memorial Gardens.
