Singing set for Saturday
The Gardendale Arts Council will host a gospel singing at the Gardendale Civic Center, 6:30 p.m., with the Capstone Quartet and soloists Marion Booth and Mike Streetman.
NJMS hosts orientation
Sixth-graders and their parents are invited to attend orientation Monday, 6 p.m., at the North Jefferson Middle School gym. Students will be able to see their classrooms and learn about the lunchroom, buses, lockers and more.
Congressman to make rounds in north Jefferson
Congressman Spencer Bachus will be the guest speaker on Aug. 17, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Gardendale Chamber of Commerce luncheon. The meeting is open to the public. A reservation is required for lunch. RSVP at info@gardendalechamber.com or call the chamber at 631-9195. The cost for lunch is $10. There is no charge to attend without eating lunch. Chamber executive director Kris Marshall said the event will replace the chamber event that is normally held on the fourth Thursday of every month.
Later that day, Bachus will speak at Comfort Inn and Suites of Fultondale, 6:30 p.m., during a meeting of the Christian Conservative Group, with support of the Fultondale Chamber of Commerce. There is no charge to attend. Coffee is provided. RSVP to
