Rocket City 21, Central Alabama 7: Dawgs secure sixth seed in playoffs

The Rocket City Titans locked up the Pioneer Division title and the second seed in the Premier South Football League playoffs with a 21-7 win over the Central Alabama Devil Dawgs at Corner Middle School on Saturday.

Stephen Cagle’s touchdown pass to Darryl Harris for 52 yards in the first quarter was Central’s only score.
The Titans (8-1) scored after a Dawgs fumble, with Danny Moon scoring from six yards out.
The Titans then scored on a 35-yard touchdown pass in the third period, and then again in the fourth when they returned a Cagle interception 36 yards for a score.
Timothy Woods had 11 solo tackles to lead the Dawgs. Courtney Daly had a sack and two forced fumbles.
The Dawgs had offensive problems all night with only 127 total yards, compared to 179 yards for Rocket City.
The loss locks the Dawgs into the sixth seed in the playoffs. They play the Panhandle Crusaders from Pensacola, Fla. on Aug. 21.

Central will finish with a 7-3 record, as their final regular-season opponent, the Bay County Tigers of Panama City, have folded.
Alabama Warriors 21, East Ascension (La.) 0, forfeit: The Warriors gained a victory without having to fire up the team bus, as the Bulldogs ceased operations last week, forcing a forfeit.
The Warriors (2-7) host the Memphis Panthers this Saturday in the season finalé. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
