Thursday was a busy day in Gardendale, politically speaking, as two gubernatorial candidates made stops in the city.
Candidate Tim James spoke for a breakfast crowd at Ryan’s at 7:30 a.m. Later, candidate Roy Moore was guest speaker at the monthly Greater Gardendale Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
Both men are republicans and have thrown their hats in the governor’s race along with five other republicans and two democrats.
Also speaking at both events, and helping introduce both candidates, was Sen. Scott Beason, R-17th, of Gardendale.
Organizing James’ visit was Greg Davis, president of First Priority.
“I asked him a lot of questions about himself,” Davis said. “He’s very genuine. I think he has good motives for why he should be in office.”
Later in the day, candidate Moore addressed a crowd at the Gardendale Civic Center.
“I had nothing but positive comments from everyone after the meeting. I think everyone was pleased and really enjoyed the event,” said Robert Cloud, president of the Greater Gardendale Chamber of Commerce.
