- North Jefferson’s Nathan Stover slides into home plate during the Blue Devils’ 11-0 shutout of Pleasant Grove Monday night.
North Jefferson Middle School has had its way with its opponents for most of the baseball season, and Monday night they showed why.
The Blue Devils put 10 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning, on their way to an 11-0 shutout of Pleasant Grove in the Jefferson County Middle School Championship finals at Mortimer Jordan.
Justin Folse and Kyle Woods each batted in two runs in the inning, and Nathan Stover scored twice, once on a passed ball. Folse, the winning pitcher, gave up only two hits (both in the second inning) while striking out four Spartans. Hayden Yeager had a double in the first inning, and came home on Stover’s subsequent single.
Shortstop Devlin Hodges had two stolen bases plus a run-scoring single. The title game finishes off a spectacular season for Coach Scott Sisk’s Devils, who ended up with 22 wins and only two losses.
