Their state-record 59-game winning streak may have ended here, but they’re already four games into a new one.
Mortimer Jordan’s nationally-ranked softball team won four straight games to take the consolation-bracket championship of the ESPN RISE/Nike Fastest to First Tournament, after defeating Piedra Vista High of Framington, N.M. 5-2 in the final game.
The Blue Devils (20-1) lost their first game on Thursday, which dropped them into the consolation bracket, then won consecutive games over Foothill High of Henderson, Nev.; St. Frances of Honolulu, Hawaii; and Bingham, Utah.
Jordan is currently 11th in the ESPN RISE Fab 50 national rankings.
