The first Alabama Sports Writers Association softball poll of the 2010 season sees Mortimer Jordan and Corner in familiar positions.

The Blue Devils are ranked first in the Class 5A poll, as they were for the entire 2009 season. Their record stood at 11-0 when the poll was compiled; they’ve since won another game to go to 12-0, extending their state-record winning streak to 57 games.

Corner, the runner-up in Class 4A last season, is in the number-three slot in the initial 2010 poll. Their record is 5-4, with most of their losses against larger schools. The exception is an extra-inning defeat at the hands of Sumiton Christian, the second-ranked team in Class 3A.

In baseball, no local teams are ranked.
