Growing weary of winter months
Published 11:18 am Monday, February 8, 2010
It looks as though the groundhog saw its shadow, so that means we will have six more weeks of winter. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am tired of winter.
• Mayor Jim Lowery recently gave his State of the City Address for local residents, businesses, senior citizens and employees. Mayor Lowery is working every day to make our city better and we appreciate all he has done. Who would have thought 15 years ago that Fultondale would be booming town that it is today? Fultondale is truly a great place to live.
• The Fultondale City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at city hall.
• I know that anyone who has lived in the Fultondale area for several years knows Bob Formby, former pharmacist and owner of Fultondale Pharmacy. Bob was here for more than 40 years and was very valuable to the residents and community. Bob recently retired from a local pharmacy and we will be honoring him at our council meeting on Monday at 11:30 a.m. Bob is so knowledgeable and such a good friend to so many. Come on out and help us honor him for all the years of service he provided us.
• We are having ongoing complaints of dogs running loose in the neighborhoods. If you are the owner of a dog, please make sure your pet is not bothering your neighbor or anyone else. We have a lot of elderly residents and they cannot deal with the problem and should not have to. We do have a leash law and we do enforce it.
• Happy belated birthday wishes go to: Fultondale Police officer David Davis on Jan. 30; Randy Posey of the street department on Feb. 2; and to Brandi Helton of the court department on Feb. 5. All do a great job for the city and we hope they had a great birthday.
Remember if you have news, anniversaries, birthdays or reunions, let me know.
