Lowery to address city next week

The Fultondale Chamber of Commerce and The City of Fultondale will present Mayor Jim Lowery’s State of the City Address on Jan. 21 at 8:15 a.m. at Fultondale City Hall. Breakfast will be provided and registration begins at 8. The program will be as follows: Teresa Vise, co-director of the chamber will welcome everyone; Councilman Tommy Loden will give the invocation; and Councilman Darrell Hubbert will conduct the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Lowery will speak on the state of the city and his plans or 2010 and beyond. Councilman Joe Bolton will also provide a financial update. This will be a great event and we hope everyone plans to attend.

• The city council will meet the second and fourth Monday of the month at 11:30 a.m. for the next few months. 

• Fultondale City Hall, gas department, library and street department will be closed Monday for MLK Day. We will re-open Tuesday for regular business.

• I would like to send a special thanks to all my friends who have always come through for me when I needed them. They are always there to do whatever, however long it takes to help me out of a bad situation and I truly appreciate them. Friends are truly a blessing from God and I have been blessed far more than I deserve. So thanks to everyone; I love you all.

• Please continue to remember Steve Horton in your prayers as he goes through his chemo treatments. Also, remember our friend Mrs. Polly Goodwin and Earline Hubbert. We don’t get to see them as much any more, but we still love them.

• A special happy birthday wish goes to Det. David “Fuji” Rogers of the Fultondale Police Department on Jan. 15. David does a great job for the department and we hope he has a great birthday.
