Tasting luncheon pleases crowd and organizers

Organizers were pleased with the tremendous turnout at Friday’s tasting luncheon.

Hosted by the North End Council of Garden Clubs, the luncheon featured dozens of meats, sides, salads and desserts.

The council sold 249 tickets for the event, which was held at the Gardendale Civic Center.

“We were very, very thrilled and very thankful that so many people came,” said council president Patricia Akers. “It’s the biggest one we’ve ever had. It will mean a lot for the flower show and the other things we do throughout the year.”
