Mr. Bill R. Brock, age 76 of Gardendale, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009. Native of Cullman. Member of North Gardendale Church of Christ; U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War; retired from Alex Kontos Fruit Company. Served 37 years as a volunteer fireman with Gardendale Fire Department, former Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 266, member of Gardendale Beautification Board and was voted Gardendale’s Man of the Year in 1976. He was preceded in death by his parents, W. L. and Vera Brock and by a son, Mitchell Ray Brock. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda R. Brock; daughter, Lisa Parker (Tommy); son, Lee Brock; grandchildren, Julianne Powell (Bryan) and Zulema Parker; brother, Tom Brock (Sheila) and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Gardendale Funeral Home with Mr. Jeff McCrary and Mr. Bill Hall officiating.
