A Warrior woman reportedly took her life last Friday as deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to serve a warrant.

Lt. Randy Christian said deputies arrived at the residence in the 2200 block of Self Creek Road to serve an oustanding first-degree theft warrant on a 56-year-old female resident.

The warrant stemmed from an alleged theft case involving a Birmingham-area printing company.

“Whey they arrived, a woman fitting her description was sitting on the deck and ran inside,” Christian said. “The deputies knocked, didn’t get an answer and went inside and announced who they were.”

The deputies went upstairs after hearing movement and found an empty gun holster. The woman’s body was found in another upstairs part of the home, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No one else was in the home at the time.

Christian said the woman’s name would not be released out of respect for the family, but was identified as the same person listed on the arrest warrant.
