Dozens of people who showed up Tuesday in Kimberly were to go home without their questions resolved.

A crowd packed the Kimberly Town Council chamber and the adjoining hallway to see whether the council would grant approval of a bingo hall license to Community Network Association, Inc.

The council left the matter on the table. Mayor Craig Harris told the crowd that the town council would table the matter on the advice of city attorney Charlie D. Waldrep.

Waldrep said Thursday that he had not yet seen the proposed resolution that Community Network Association provided, but he has a meeting with Harris next week.

“We will look at the proposal and the law … and form some action plan,” said Waldrep. “I think they’re doing the right thing by being very deliberate.”

Waldrep is experienced with the bingo issue. He has worked with the City of Bessemer and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office regarding bingo.
