James Harold Self, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2009 at the age of 83. He retired after 31 1/2 years at Dupont and was the president of the Dupont President’s Club. He was also a member of the Birmingham First 7th Day Adventist Church in Hoover; a lover of gospel music; an avid farmer; and loved his Maltese “Skippy”. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Jean Self; his mother, S.E. Mosley; two brothers, Raymond and Floyd Crane; and his 2-year-old daughter Karen Marie. He is survived by one daughter, Dana (Allen) Sigler, three sisters: Louise Best, Lorene(Hollis) Burns, and Delois (Huey) Robinette; three brothers: George M. Crane, Tommy (Faye) Crane, and Truman (Elizabeth) Crane; one sister-in-law, Elaine Crane; and 18 nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Committal Service will take place at Moncrief Cemetery.
