Clyde Carlous “Plow Boy” Mayfield, age 92 of Mt. Olive, passed way on Sept. 1, 2009. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Louise Fuller Mayfield. Mr. Mayfield served in the U.S. Army during WWII as an explosive expert. He was also retired from E.I. Dupont with 30 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Mayfield; children, James Hilliard Mayfield, Carolyn Mayfield Rhodes (Billy), Gale Gipson (Jimmy), Clyde Randall Mayfield (Susan), Donald Tate (Lois); eight granddaughters; five great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; sister, Marie Smith and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Thursday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. in the Gardendale Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery.
