Counterfeit money found in Gardendale
The Secret Service Agency in Birmingham is conducting an investigation into counterfeit $20 bills that were spent at two Gardendale restaurants last week.
According to police reports, the bills were used at Krystal’s on Main Street and McDonald’s on Pecan Avenue. The Gardendale Police Department reportedly seized the bills and turned them over to the Secret Service. A spokesman with the agency verified the investigation, but offered no further comment.
North Jefferson News closed for Labor Day
The North Jefferson News will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, to commemorate Labor Day. Classified deadlines for the Wednesday, Sept. 9, edition of the paper will be moved up to Friday, Sept. 4 at 4 p.m. Our offices will reopen on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
