Homer Jerry Henson, age 70 of Corner, passed away on Aug. 14, 2009. He was a member of Calcedonia Baptist Church and retired from Yellow Freight Line with over 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Wilma Henson; sister, Brenda Gann and brother, William Henson. He was survived by his devoted and loving wife of 48 years, Shelby McMurray Henson; brother, Butch (Regina) Henson; sisters, Judy Ratcliff and Shayree (Rev. Wayne) Williams; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Mitchell, Betty Sargent and Wilda Hawkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services were held at the Gardendale Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Burchfield officiating. Burial was held at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
