I would like to thank everyone who attended the last “Family Movie Night in the Park” and the “Back to School Bash.” There was a big crowd and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Special thanks to all the sponsors who made it possible.

• The Fultondale City Council is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons who vandalized the Children’s Park on Stouts Road.

• This weekend is the Sales Tax Holiday on school supplies. Get out there and take advantage of it.

• School begins on Wednesday. Summer has certainly flown by. I hope all of you have a great school year.

• The Lewisburg School reunion will be Aug. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fultondale Elementary School.

• We would like to wish a special happy birthday wish to our mayor and good friend Jim Lowery. He celebrated his 60th birthday on Friday. It is rare to have a boss whom you consider a friend, but our mayor is all those things to us and we appreciate all he does for us and the City of Fultondale.

• Happy birthday to councilman Tommy Loden on Sunday. Tommy is always the same friendly, caring person every time you see him and we would like to thank him for his years of service to the city.

• There will be a back to school safety fair today at the Verizon Wireless Center at the Colonial Promenade Shopping Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It would be a good time to bring the children out and let them learn about Internet safety, receive coloring books and spray water from the fire truck. Door prizes will also be given away.

• Lordy, Lordy, Lisa Clifton was 40 on Aug. 5. This birthday wish is compliments of her sweet husband, Big Daddy (Craig) and son, Zach. I hope she had a wonderful birthday.

• Mark your calendars for Founder’s Day on Aug. 22. We will have lots of great entertainment, so make plans to come out.

• Heartfelt sympathies go out to the family of Brenda Finn who passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday. She is the wife of Bill Finn. Please remember her family in your prayers.

• Remember, if you have any news, anniversaries or birthdays, let me know.
