The Morris City Council on Tuesday approve a bid for just over $1,000 for lighting for the jail and the police department.

In other business, the council:

• approved the spending of $250 for medical equipment for the fire department

• approved the donation of a Ford Expedition to the Morris Fire Department from the Morris Police Department

• is considering asking Alabama Power to turn off street lights that are not needed in order to save money

The next Morris City Council meeting is Aug. 25, 6 p.m. at Morris City Hall.
