The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of a Mt. Olive gas station.

Lt. Randy Christian said a man walked into the BP at 2470 Mt. Olive Road Wednesday evening and asked for cigarettes. The man then reportedly pulled a black, semiautomatic pistol on the female cashier and demanded money.

Christian said the suspect, described as a white male, then left the premises on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. it is unknown if the suspect had a vehicle waiting on him.

The cashier reported the incident shortly after 9 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies, Gardendale Police officers and the sheriff’s office helicopter searched the area without success.

Christian said there were no witnesses and no other suspects.
