The Morris City Council voted Tuesday to enter into contact with building inspector Brent Earnest so he can enforce a new city ordinance. The ordinance quickens the process of demolishing or requiring property owners to repair abandoned and unsafe structures.
In other business, the council:
• voted to send town clerk Renee Sears and magistrate Jessica Robb to the Alabama Court Clerk and Magistrates Convention in September. The cost is $890, plus $20 per diem a day each and mileage.
• heard from Joyce Ballard, who gave certificates to several Morris police officers for going above and beyond the call of duty
