My niece Maria and I went out for a girls day several Saturdays ago and ran into a delightful lady, Erin Sullivan.

Mrs. Sullivan grew up in Morris and has many friends in the Morris and Gardendale communities. She was married to her husband, Carroll V. Sullivan, for 45 years, but is now a widow. She has three children and nine grandchildren, who her life revolves around.

Among her grandchildren, she has some competitive soccer players, a graphic designer and others who sing, play musical instruments at church, in bands and perform concerts. This keeps her going all the time to events she thoroughly enjoys. She herself loves music and plays the piano and was once the pianist at Liberty Baptist Church in Morris.

Mrs. Sullivan attended Majestic Elementary School and graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School. She then graduated from Jefferson State Community College and went on to UAB. She became active in the medical field and still is very active taking care of people.

She took care of her son’s premature baby when it was born, and is now a caregiver to a very loving family. In the 1990s, she worked in the office at Gardendale High School.

“Age is only a number,” she said. “I am a very independent person.” She loves to be active and likes a variety of activities, particularly photography and gardening. As a matter of fact, her favorite hymn is “In the Garden.” She also enjoys being around down-to-earth, caring and intelligent people.

Mrs. Sullivan now lives in Oneonta with her son and his wife. She was very quick to point out that they both are very involved in the Boy Scouts, which is something she is proud of. Even though she lives in Oneonta, she stays well informed of everything going on in Morris and Gardendale and conducts most all of her business in this area.

She dreams of moving to a garden home at some point, and I am sure it will have a lot of flower gardens surrounding it.

I can’t fail to mention that Mrs. Sullivan is a very fashion-conscious lady and she speaks highly of her hairdresser.

Don’t be surprised if you run into Mrs. Sullivan, as she is a busy lady. I did find out one more interesting piece of information on this nice lady — she loves “American Idol.”
