Scouts in Brownie Scout Troop No. 1010 are bridging in the fall to Girl Scout Juniors The girls recently reflected on their experiences as Brownie Girl Scouts as a fun end of the year activity, and as part of their Write Away Try It Badge work.
Also, two Junior Girl Scouts who were in the troop last year reflected on their experiences in Girl Scouts as Juniors as well.
Troop leaders Lori Knutson and Danelle Murray thank those businesses and individuals who volunteered and donated time and materials and helped to make the past two years great years of Girl Scout experiences for the troop.
Thank you for making a difference: Wilson’s Florist, Fultondale Fire Department, Southern Focus Vision Center, The North Jefferson News, Master Patrick Crocker at Gardendale Taekwondo and the Fultondale Square Dancers.
My experiences as a Brownie Girl Scout is we got to go to a lot of places, like to the eye doctor and Wilson’s Florist.
We got to try on glasses and learn how to do the test and make a corsage
and make a bouquet. Also, we (me and my dad) went to the Father-Daughter Sock Hop. We had so much fun dancing, eating, and spending time with each other. I was so glad to go.
Shae, age 9
I went camping with the Girl Scouts. When I went, I loved things like archery, and climbing wall, and fishing and paddle boating. I shared a bunk with Lauren.
I liked the meetings a lot. Girl Scouts are great! They ROCK!
Girl Scouts rock!
Alex, age 8
We had a great year this year. We went camping and had a backyard campout and we went to the fire station and had a birthday party for Juliette Gordon Low, and we had the kid’s museum come to our meeting and we helped at the Relay for Life.
We made tie-dyed t-shirts, and much, much more.
Abby, age 8
I had fun because we went camping. We learned new songs. We went to the fire department and got a goody bag. We learned how to Square Dance. We learned how to take care of ferrets. We had fun. We went to the florist. We learned how to be an eye doctor. We went camping, climbing wall, archery, fishing.
I was top seller (cookies) this year. We went green. The McWane Science Center came to a meeting and did experiments. We learned about manners, health, animals, and we went to a party for Alex Swader and he invited the characters from Star Wars!
Sarah, age 9
We learned how to Square Dance when the square dancers came. My first camping trip. We went to the Birmingham Museum of Art. And the time we did the food drive. And we went green. I liked when we went to the fire station I liked the climbing wall, archery and canoeing. This year was great. I would like to be a Girl Scout again!
Madison, age 8
I learned that blind people have to use sticks (canes) for finding their way.
Morgan, age 9
I learned new Girl Scout songs. A guest came that had two ferrets. I got to pet one of them. I put my hand on the floor, and one of them rubbed my hand and I petted it. It was very soft. The ferret has a good sense of humor.
Neka, age 9
We sang, danced. We had so much fun. You rotate partners (Square Dancing) after you got through everybody, you would get back to the person you started with.
I love Girl Scouts.
J ayla, age 8
I learned a lot of things at Girl Scouts, and I had a lot of fun. But I had the most fun at camp. We went canoeing at camp. It was a lot of fun. We also sold cookies. We earned a lot of money. That’s how we went camping!
I sure love Girl Scouts. The end.
Lindsey, age 9
We went camping and me and Alex went and I shared a room with her. We went canoeing and rock climbing.
Lauren, age 8
I went to the Father-Daughter Sock Hop. The Sock Hop was very, very fun. I twisted around and around and around until the song was over! It was sooooooo fun I had a blast.
Kailey, age 7
I learned many things while I was in Girl Scouts, but my favorite was to learn how to Square Dance. It was my favorite because it was the most exotic thing this year. Even though you may think it’s boring or old fashion, it’s not.
P.S. These were the funnest years of my life!
Brooklyn, age 10
My favorite thing that I did as a Girl Scout was selling cookies. We sold so many that I lost count! Our troop made a lot of money to do other things, but it’s because we sold those cookies that we got to do those things.
