Mykka Merritt and Garrett Sweatt each slammed three-run homers in the bottom of the fourth inning, then withstood a late rally to edge previously-undefeated Corner in the 12-year-old Dizzy Dean 31 North District Baseball Tournament at Mount Olive Park.

The win Monday night moved the Rockets into the championship game against the winner of the game between Corner and Fultondale, which was delayed by storms.

The tournament has already been delayed twice, on Saturday and Sunday, by storms.

Organizers hope to play the finals Tuesday night. If Gardendale loses the final game inthe double-elimination tournament, a second game will be required.
