Winnett 11th at state golf finals

COTTONDALE — Molly Winnett of Gardendale shot a seven-over-par 79 on Monday, but struggled to shoot an 83 (+11) in the second round to finish in 11th place at the AHSAA Class 6A Girls Golf Championship at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Capitol Hill course.
Winnett started Tuesday play with five bogeys before recovering with a birdie on the 326-yard par-4 sixth hole. She scored another birdie on the 17th.
