Gardendale



Registration

April 16 Snow Rogers and Gardendale Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten registration on April 16, 5-7 p.m. You must bring your child with you for a short assessment. The following documents must be provided for enrollment: Birth certificate; Social Security card; blue Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50), which should include two measles immunizations and one for chicken pox; two proofs of residence; copy of parent’s driver license; custody papers where applicable. Registration will be permitted without immunization certificate, but certificate must be presented before school begins on Aug. 12. A child’s fifth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. Child’s sixth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in first grade. Flower Show

April 16-17 The Federated Garden Clubs of North End Council is hosting its 58th annual flower show at the Gardendale Civic Center. The show is open to the public on April 16, 2-7 p.m., and April 17, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call Phoebe Limbaugh at 631-6137.



Indoor Yard Sale

April 17, 18 North Gardendale Baptist Church is holding an indoor yard sale on April 17 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and April 18 from 7 a.m. to noon. If you would like to donate items contact Scott Crews at 368-8071 or the church office at 631-8079. Proceeds benefit the VBS Belize Mission Trip.



Magnolia Festival

April 18 The eighth annual Magnolia Festival will be held at the Gardendale Civic Center on April 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will feature arts and crafts, classic car show, business expo, carnival rides, inflatables, pooch parade, live entertainment and a variety of food vendors. Town Hall Meeting

April 22 Choices and Consequences, a free town hall meeting for seniors will be held April 22 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center. Speaker Lynn Campisi, an Elder Law Attorney, will enlighten seniors on the many choices available to them in terms of legal issues. There will be sponsoring vendors who will have information available for those interested. Door prizes and a sack lunch will be provided. Health Fair

April 24 The Gardendale Senior Center Health Fair will take place on April 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Gardendale Civic Center. Any local businesses having senior interest, please contact Peggy at 631-7240.



Yard Sale/Fabric Sale

April 25 Gardendale Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church will be holding a flea market, craft show and fabric sale on April 25 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hand made crafts, yard sale items and expensive fabrics for only $5 per yard. Booth space is available. Call 631-7631 for more information.



Decoration

May 10 Friendship Community Church will have Decoration on May 10. Lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m. A singing featuring Total Praise will start at 1:30 p.m.



Cemetery clean-up

Friendship Community Church will have a cemetery clean-up every Saturday until Mother’s Day. Everyone with loved ones buried in the cemetery is encouraged to help clean to get ready for Decoration on May 10.



Recovery Meetings

Celebrate Recovery meetings at Gardendale-Mt Vernon United Methodist Church meets every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Contact Paul Wiegert at 631-7631.



TOPS Meetings

Free Child Care

There will be free child care in the Mt. Olive area for 3 and 4 year olds. The head start program is now enrolling for the summer. Regular full day childcare is offered. Call 608-1661.

Mother’s Day Out

April 16 Bryan Elementary School will host kindergarten registration on April 16, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:30-6:30 p.m. Bring your child with you for a short evaluation. Students must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 to register for kindergarten. Bring the following to register: two proofs of residence, blue immunization form, birth certificate, Social Security card, parent’s driver license, legal documents that contain pertinent information (such as custody papers, etc.). Mother’s Day Out

Enon Baptist Church’s Mothers Day Out program will offer childcare for children 6 weeks to 4 years old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program follows the Jefferson County School System calendar, so is closed during all of the breaks. For more information call 647-9614.

Revival

April 17-19 Mt. View Baptist Church will have a revival April 17-19. The evangelists are: April 17, 7 p.m. Daniel Gann, April 18, 7 p.m. Dale Banks, April 19, 11 a.m. Kenneth Shelton, and April 19, 5 p.m. Gary Creel. Mt. Art on the Lake

April 18, 19 Art on the Lake, an annual two-day arts and crafts event in Guntersville, is now accepting applications from artists and vendors who wish to exhibit in the show. Reunion

Decoration, Cleanup

April 26 Decoration Day for Sulphur Springs Cemetery is April 26. Clean-up day is May 16. Please have all flowers you wish to keep picked up by that date.



Weight Loss Classes

April 30 Free weight loss surgery classes being held at Walker Regional Medical Center on April 30 at 4 pm. Please call our office at 780-7150 for more information and to reserve your spot. These classes will discuss surgery options and support.



Reunion
