Easter egg hunt on tap this week

The second annual night time Easter egg hunt will take place on tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Moncrief Park behind the tennis courts. This event is co-sponsored by The Church Revived and the city of Gardendale. There will be food, games and prizes. Bring your flashlight. Everything is free.

• The Great Egg Drop will take place today on Mount Olive Road about 2 miles west of I-65. There will be inflatables and free drinks and snacks while we wait on the helicopter to arrive. The eggs will be stuffed with candy and many of them with certificates for prizes from local merchants. All kids are welcome! For more information call 631-4525 or visit www.church2911.com.

• Walk for Life for the North Jefferson Women’s Center will be held today at 10 a.m. Please show your support for life by joining us at this walk. For more information call 608-0757.

April is Alcohol Awareness Month. Sometimes senior citizens drink out of loneliness and families don’t know what to do. Call Narconon for help at 877-413-3073.

• Mt. Olive First Baptist will hold an Easter egg hunt and photos with the Easter bunny on April 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch will be served. For more information call 631-4401.

• There will be a Miracle League organizational meeting on April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center. Come see how you can be a part of this great program. • Choices and Consequences, a free town hall meeting for senior will be held April 22 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center. Speaker Lynn Campisi, an Elder Law Attorney, will enlighten seniors on the many choices available to them in terms of legal issues. • There will be a community Easter egg hunt tomorrow from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at Black Creek Park. This will include the egg hunts, games, pictures with the Easter bunny, a light hot dog supper and much more! Open to everyone. Everything’s free. This event is sponsored by Gardendale-Mt. • It has been forty years since Gardendale High School graduated its first senior class. In an attempt to organize an alumni association with the sole purpose of giving back to GHS, representatives from the class of ’68 invite all alumni to join them in this organizational meeting to be held March 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center in the Magnolia Room. According to the committee, they are all where they are today because of the education they received at GHS, and it is time for them to make plans to give back to their alma mater and to their community. They will be discussing potential officers, board members, financial advisors and instituting by-laws of the association. • The Mt. Olive Cemetery trustees will be cleaning the cemetery the first week of April. Please pick up anything you wish to keep.
