Corner High School has a new football coach, who’s also an old football coach.
Brent Smith, who was the head coach of the Yellow Jackets for four seasons before leaving for Clay-Chalkville two years ago, will return to his old job at Corner. The move was approved by the Jefferson County Board of Education in its regular meeting on Thursday.
Smith stepped down at Clay a few weeks ago after two losing seasons with the Cougars.
He also had an overall losing record at Corner, but his last team there in 2006 was 8-4 and went two rounds into the playoffs, after having been winless the year before.
Brent Smith replaced Jeff Smith, who resigned as head coach and athletic director earlier this month. Jeff Smith served as Brent Smith’s offensive coordinator in 2006.
Jeff Smith also served as girls basketball coach, and currently retains that position.
