Corner 52, Fultondale 49

With the Wildcats down 33-17 at halftime and with coach Billy Conner out of the gym after being ejected on two technical fouls, the prospects for the Yellow Jackets Tuesday night were pretty bleak.

But Corner staged a huge comeback, led by Adam Norris’ eight points in the fourth quarters, as they walked away with a three-point win.

Norris finished with 12 points to lead Corner, and Kyle Belcher had 11 points.

R. J. Sanders topped the Wildcats with 18 points, and Landon Robinson added 12, with seven free throws in the first half.

Mountain Brook 62, Gardendale 51

Nigel Ramsey scored 16 points and Tyler Burgess added 11, but it wasn’t enough Tuesday as Rockets coach Mark Cornelius’ squad fell to his former team for the second time in 12 days.

Drew Faile had eight rebounds for Gardendale.

Erwin 50, Mortimer Jordan 35

Brandon Peterson led the Eagles with 25 points as Erwin secured a tie with Pleasant Grove for the top seed in the Class 5A Area 11 tournament.

Josh Vaughn led the Blue Devils with 12 points.

Erwin will host the area tournament by virtue of a coin flip. Jordan, which tied with Springville for third, lost a tiebreaker and will face Hayden in a play-in game on February 3.

Cleveland 69, Hayden 54

Chas Cornelius had 16 points and brother Tyler had 15 as the Panthers took the semifinal game of the Blount County Tournament on Thursday.

Tyler Robertson also had 10 points for host Cleveland.

Hayden had four players in double figues. Ben Curry scored 12, and Owen Hargett, Cody Butler and Sean Davis scored 11 each.

Tabernacle Christian 43, Victory Christian-Columbus, Miss. 29

Landon Ingle scored 12 points and Dylan Hargreaves had eight rebounds plus three steals, as the Torches overcame a 14-0 run by Victory to open the game.
