Warrior students receive awards for November reading month

Warrior Elementary School principal Mike Frugoli and library media specialist Andrea Pedigo presented awards recently for November Family Reading Month, sponsored by the Jefferson County Board of Education and the Library Media Services Department.
The school provided awards for the top three readers in each classroom, with the top reader in grades K-2 getting a trophy.
Students in grades 3-12 were encouraged to take part in the Young Authors’ Showcase, where they were to write an original ending to a book they read during the month.
The theme for the event was “Reading is a Family Affair.”
The following students received November Reading Month awards:
Kindergarten
• Ms. Atkins: 1st place, Daniel Payne; 2nd place, Ryan Horsley; 3rd place, Mystery Shelton
• Ms. Bailey: 1st place, Laci Reno; 2nd place, T.K. Barfield; 3rd place, Angel Early
• Ms. Cook: 1st place, Alex Worthy; 2nd place, Ricky Weems
Grade 1
• Ms. Ballard: 1st place, David Tyler; 2nd place, Danielle Davison; 3rd place, Matthan Bairrow
• Ms. Weston: 1st place, Autumn McMichael; 2nd place, Keondrick Hankins; 3rd place, Lucas Williams
