A Cullman man was killed during a one-vehicle crash outside of Hanceville Saturday evening.
Cullman County Coroner Gary Murphree pronounced Michael Henderson, 51, dead at the scene at 11:42 p.m.
“He received head trauma,” Murphree said. “He was not ejected.”
According to Alabama State Trooper reports, the vehicle, a 1991 Porsche, crashed at approximately 10:35 p.m. on Welti Road, 2 miles east of Hanceville.
“The car just overturned,” Murphree said.
Reports indicate the driver, Scott Weir, 47 of Alpharetta, Ga., was injured during the wreck. Neither Henderson nor Weir were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Read the complete obituary on page 4A.
Henderson was one of five people to die during traffic accidents over the 102-hour Christmas travel period that ended at midnight Sunday.
Dorris Teague, a spokeswoman for the Alabama Department of Public Safety, said the other traffic fatalities occurred in Mobile, Escambia, Butler and St. Clair Counties. None of the other victims reportedly wore seat belts during the crashes.
In 2007, 15 people died in traffic accidents on Alabama roadways during the 102-hour Christmas period.
