City to look at yard sale measure
Gardendale homeowners who have weekly or monthly yard sales may soon find themselves under scrutiny from city officials.
Resident Dan Yeager spoke to the city council Monday night and requested that action be taken by the city against some of his Ward 3 neighbors who he claims have two to three yard sales each month.
Yeager said the sales, which he said take place on Ardella Circle and Peterson Drive, are a source of traffic and safety concerns.
AMVETS group prepares to open new post
After a long battle to start an AMVETS location in Kimberly, officers are finally preparing to open a post there.
Robert Yeager of Warrior, who grew up in Kimberly, is commander of AMVETS Post No. 47.
Yeager said opening the post is in the works.
“We’re having to do some work on the building because of new regulations from the fire marshall,” he said.
Warrior council annexes property
The Warrior City Council on Monday voted to annex about six acres into the city. The property belongs to the Musgrove family, which wanted to be inside the city limits, according to city officials.
Kimberly celebrates Christmas with parade, tree lighting
Stouts Road in Kimberly was lined on both sides Saturday night with folks young and old wanting to see a parade.
The town’s fourth annual Christmas parade was deemed a success by town officials.
For several minutes before the procession appeared, parade go-ers could hear the Mortimer Jordan High School marching band getting closer, as well as sirens from police cars and fire trucks.
